Jesse L. Sutherland 

Hello! I’m Jesse — a digital media all-rounder, marketing strategist, and filmmaker dedicated to bringing stories to life through creative content and authentic connection.

I have one clear goal: to help local businesses and creatives tell their stories with impact. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Media (Film & Television, minor in Marketing) and Master of Screen Direction from Griffith Film School. My career began working for UniSQ and evolved through work with brands like Canstar, Absco Sheds, The Organic Garden Co., W Brisbane, Exercise & Sports Science Australia, and Bodytrack Exercise Physiology. Most recently, I led the marketing and social media strategy for The Fit Lab — merging my love for storytelling and wellness.

As a filmmaker, my passion lies in crafting short films and documentaries that move people — stories that make you laugh, cry, or see something in a new light. I’m proud to have been selected for Screen Queensland & the Australian Directors Guild’s 'Local 2 Global' Directors Initiative, supporting emerging Queensland movie directors. I’m currently developing my eighth short film and leading JLC Film Productions — the filmmaking arm of JL Creative Media — focused on bold, thought-provoking storytelling. I also co-founded the Sparrowland Short Film Festival which was named in the top 10 film festivals in Australia in 2024.
